Refer a Patient to Perth Sleep Dentistry

Oral Surgery & Sedation Dentistry for Your Patients

At Perth Sleep Dentistry, we work closely with many local dental clinics, medical practitioners and specialists across Perth to provide safe, comfortable treatment for patients who require IV sedation or general anaesthetic. Whether your patient is anxious, has complex medical needs, requires extensive treatment, or simply prefers to be asleep during their procedure, our team is here to help.

Led by Dr Nicole Hocek (Principal Dental Surgeon), our clinic is equipped to manage the full scope of sedation dentistry — with an in-house anaesthetist on-site for every sedation and general anaesthetic case, ensuring your patient receives specialist-level care without the wait times often associated with hospital bookings.

In addition to our clinic-based sedation services, we also operate at St John of God Midland and Waikiki Private Hospital, giving patients with complex medical needs — or those who prefer to use their private health insurance hospital cover — a hospital-based option for their treatment.

Services We Provide

We accept referrals for a wide range of procedures, including:

Oral Surgery

  • Surgical and complex tooth extractions
  • Wisdom tooth removal
  • Bone grafting and ridge preservation
  • Exposure of impacted teeth (including bonding of gold chains)

Dental Implants

  • Full-arch implant rehabilitation
  • Implant-supported dentures

Sedation & Anaesthesia

  • IV (intravenous) sedation
  • General anaesthetic (GA), at Waikiki Private Hospital or St John of God Private Hospital Midland
  • Sleep dentistry for anxious, phobic or special needs patients

General Treatment Under IV Sedation

  • Restorative work, fillings, root canal treatment and crowns for patients unable to tolerate treatment while awake
  • Restorative work is done under an IV sedation

If you have a patient with a treatment need that doesn’t fit neatly into the categories above, we encourage you to refer regardless — our team will assess suitability and contact you to discuss options.

Why Refer to Us?

In-house anaesthetist — every IV sedation is overseen by a specialist anaesthetist on-site, providing hospital-level safety in a comfortable dental setting.

Reduced wait times — many procedures that would otherwise require a waiting list can be completed at our clinic, often within weeks.

Comprehensive care under one roof — from initial consultation through to surgery, sedation and post-operative review, your patient is cared for by one coordinated team.

Clear communication — we keep referring practitioners informed throughout the treatment journey, and patients are returned to your care for ongoing maintenance once treatment is complete.

We respect the patients relationship with their usual dentist – We will always follow the refers instructions and will always refer patients back to their usual dentist for ongoing treatment. The relationship between us and the clinics that refer to us is critically important to us. We will send back correspondence after the procedure is complete, so you know what is happening at all times.

Hospital-Based Treatment Options

For patients with significant medical comorbidities, complex surgical requirements, or those who hold private health insurance and wish to use their hospital cover, we offer treatment at:

  • St John of God Midland
  • Waikiki Private Hospital

Treatment in a hospital setting provides access to additional medical support and monitoring, and may be the preferred option for patients who would benefit from a higher level of perioperative care. Our team will discuss with you and your patient whether a clinic-based or hospital-based setting is most appropriate, based on their medical history and individual circumstances.

How to Refer a Patient

Referring a patient is simple. Complete our secure online referral form, including:

  • Patient details and contact information
  • Clinical details and reason for referral
  • Whether the patient requires sedation, and if so, what type
  • Any relevant radiographs (including OPGs, periapicals, bitewings or CBCT scans)
  • Your details and clinic contact information, so we can liaise directly with you

Once submitted, our team will review the referral and contact the patient directly to arrange a consultation. A confirmation will also be sent to your clinic.
